Aviation Questions Answered By Airline Pilots

FAQ

What type of airplanes have the pilots flown that are answering my questions?
All of the pilots answering questions have flown major transport category aircraft for a major airline. The aircraft include but are not limited to the Boeing 737, Boeing 727, Airbus A-320 and Airbus A-330.

How fast can I expect an answer to my question?
We usually try to answer questions within 72 hours. We get many questions, and we try to answer them as quickly as we possibly can.

Am I limited to the type of questions that I may ask?
No, as long as the question is Aviation related and has something to do with a flight. Quite often we’ll get a question that will something like, “My wife and I booked a flight from New York to Dallas. Do you know how we can get the lowest Air Fare?” While some of us are savvy travelers, the pilots answering the questions are not travel agents so we probably can’t answer a question unless it’s truly an Aviation question related to flying or aircraft.

Will my question be published somewhere?
It might be. We would like “Ask A Pilot!” to be a place where a person can go to get nearly any flying or aviation question answered. For that reason it is possible that your question could be published in a newspaper or a magazine. At this time we only publish the question and the answer, not the name of the person who asked the question.

What is the most unusual question that someone has asked?
We don’t believe there are very many unusual questions! If you don’t ask you won’t know! The important thing is to let your curiosity roam, and ask an Aviation related question that you’ve always wanted the answer to. Often the best questions come from people that have just flown on an airline somewhere so that the question is right on their mind.
